There are several castles in the area to explore, from ruins to the enchanting Dunrobin Castle in Sutherland.

Ballindalloch Castle is one of the few privately owned castles to have been lived in continuously by its original family. The Macpherson-Grants have resided here since 1546. The Castle is open daily 10.30 am to 5.30 pm from Friday 22nd April 2011 until the end of September 2011. The Castle is closed on Saturdays. Last admission each day is at 4.45 pm.
